The flat roof of a single storey extension became a beautiful terrace at a Boxford home in the Lambourn Valley,
Copper Bottom is a striking new build designed by Adrian James Architects, located on Harcourt Hill near Oxford. Completed in late 2023, the home has received national attention, featuring in The Guardian and RICA’s architectural magazine for its bold copper-clad design and zero-carbon credentials.
Rooftek Advance was appointed to deliver the full roofing package for this ambitious architectural project. Our brief required precision, performance, and a clean integration with the building’s expressive folded copper form.
The shallow roof pitch and high-performance solar array required faultless waterproofing and careful detailing. Working around the complex copper cladding and integrating safety systems without disrupting the visual lines demanded expert planning and precision. RoofTek’s experience with solar carrier systems and Renolit Alkorplan products ensured the project was delivered to specification and on schedule.
The finished roof contributes to the overall performance and aesthetic of the Copper Bottom house — a highly sustainable home generating more energy than it consumes. The use of durable materials and fully integrated access systems ensures long-term safety, low maintenance, and reliable weather protection.
– The Guardian: “This green-roofed dream home glows with copper brilliance…”
– RICA Architects Journal: “A technically elegant expression of zero-carbon living.”
