We were contacted by Nigel Pearce (BNI) of Wokingham Cricket Club regarding on-going leaks occurring to the terrace roof section of the cricket club. The roof section had been constructed as a new build extension roughly 3-4 years ago (main contractor un-disclosed).
Upon initial inspection, we lifted a section of the terrace slabs which allowed us to investigate what waterproofing system was in place. The waterproofing system installed by main contractor was a liquid applied system however it was evident that this had not been installed to manufactures specifications.
The built up layers required for a liquid waterproofing system had not been implemented and the waterproofing was failing in several places.
Our proposal was to install a Renolit Alkorplan glass reinforced ballast roofing system which offers a 20 year warranty with BBA approve life expectancy of 35-40 years. An additional 10 year insurance guarantee was also offered. The quotation and additional insurance policy were both accepted.
Our work involved removing the existing slabs and clearing our mortar and outlets. We then installed a fully adhered Renolit Alkorplan waterproofing system to area and finished that off with new wall chase details, parapet outlets and new door thresholds. We then relayed the old slabs and installed a stone shingle perimeter to finish.
